The Return of the Alufim Trophy

Last summer, I instituted a new concept in Alufim, and that was the Alufim Trophy! This summer, we will be adding the Alufot Trophy. The Trophy will be handed, at the beginning of the summer, to a camper who competes and wins one of the first night activities of the summer. From then on, that camper will have to defend his trophy in other spontaneous contests throughout the summer. A trophy can be taken away by the Division Head from the trophy holder if they display bad behavior. What do you get if you are the trophy holder? Well, first of all, you cannot be denied a golf cart ride if either Sarah or myself are driving one, and there is room for you. Secondly, if you are holding the trophy on a Friday, you and a friend of your choosing will go to Dee Jays and Pizza. Lastly, you will be able to cut the line at the canteen.
Important Disclaimer: The Trophy holder does not get an exemption from going to Shiur.

Surprises

We are hard at work planning a bunch of surprises for Fim/Fot this Summer. We are working very closely with JerJo, and I can already promise you some big surprises for this summer....and they are good! Just be Patient!

Road Trip Day 4-5: Washington D.C

At last we have come to my favorite part of the trip - SHABBOS. Let's start with Friday. Every summer the Washington DC Friday part of the trip has changed. We've gone Ice Skating, gone to the Washington Zoo, and a speedboat ride. So you never really know what to expect. But we always eat pizza on the lawn of the Washington Monument - a road trip highlight. We will get to our hotel early. A word about the hotels on the trip. The hotels get nicer as the trip goes on, and the hotel in Washington is Awesome! It is a beautiful hotel - The Sheraton Four Points. On Friday Night we will walk to the National Synagogue for a beautiful davening and dinner (The Rabbi is out of his mind). And Friday night we will have a room with snacks, games, and hopefully continue the FimFot tradition of playing a big game of Mafia. Shabbos itself will also be relaxing and enjoyable, capped off by the annual Sholosh Seudos program. Saturday night - a BBQ and Show at Atara Yudin's sisters house who lives in Washington.

Camp Week 1

Highlight of the first week of camp:
Morasha Film Festival, Como Leagues Begin, Machzor Bet Night Trip...and First Ever Camp Wide Stomp Competition (Division vs Division, so start thinking of ideas!)

Road Trip Day 3: Virginia Beach

Every summer without fail the Virgina Beach leg of the trip is rated the best day (besides for Shabbos of course). We begin the day biking on the boardwalk. Now, I know this might sound boring, but it's actually a lot more fun than you think. First of all, these aren't one person bikes. Wendy the bike Lady provides us with 2 person, 3 person, and even 6 person bicycles. The boardwalk has a ton of great sights to see including the famous Oxygen Bar...you'll understand when you get there. From there we travel to Motor World, the country's best Go-Karting park. There is a game in the park that so far no one in FIMFOT has ever won. Will this years FIMFOT win the first time?

Calendar Sneak Peek

One of the perks of being in FimFot is having division heads who are VERY friendly with JerJo, and can sometimes sneak in an early peek to the new calendar coming to your houses in a few months. More to come in future weeks...

Road Trip Day 2: South Carolina

If you thought walking around Universal Studios was tiring, you're in for a surprise. On Day 2 of the Road Trip, we start with an early wakeup, and a trip to the United States' largest Marines training facility in South Carolina. Here we will see what it is like for someone to train as a Marine, and we will get down and dirty ourselves going through various obstacle courses. Last summer, the campers even got to shoot rifles! Do not get offended when the scary soldiers scream in your face. After an exhausting morning, it'll be time to wind down and relax at Myrtle Beach's Broadway at the Beach. This outdoor mall hosts a number of interesting stores and shops, as well as a full Aquarium, IMAX theater, and plenty of other interesting attractions. Make sure you check out the FISH (always a highlight of the trip - when we get there, ask me what it means). When we get back to the hotel, you'll want to get some rest, because the next day on our trip was voted as the best day by the campers every summer...but more about that some other time.

Road Trip Feature: Ed the Bus Driver

Perhaps the best part of the Road Trip is our Bus Driver, Ed Ornoff. Ed has been leading our trip for the past four summers, and we are excited to have him drive us again. The trip will definitely run smoother since there will only be one bus this year. Ed is an amazing person, and his knowledge of Judaism is insane. The older Ed gets, the more bathroom breaks he tends to take, but the bathroom breaks always provide some good highlights for the trip. Ed has a weird disease that causes him to make weird noises every few minutes (this is not a joke).

This is a little insane

Ok, I'm not sure why, but this blog has already been visited almost 250 times. Of course most of them are just me and Sarah checking the blog, but still, this is kind of insane, and if you guys are checking it, keep it up. At this rate, we will beat the former divisions by far!

Road Trip Day 1: Florida

Every few days I will add a new feature on a day on the Road Trip. Today we will focus on Day 1 - Florida. We will take off from JFK airport and head straight to Orlando to visit Universal Studios Islands of Adventure. Of course the highlight will be the visit to the new Harry Potter part of the park (not featured in the map). From Universal, we will drive to Jacksonville to enjoy a BBQ on the beautiful beach there - Hot Dogs, Burgers, Chicken, and all the toppings you can imagine.
Also, we will begin to attempt to break the movie watching record on the Road Trip which is now up to 19! That's right, last summer we watched 19 movies on the trip. There is never a second where that TV is blank.

Road Trip News

For the fifth time, the FimFot will be going on the FimFot East Coast Road Trip...but this year we get to see something none of the past divisions have ever seen on the trip. Every summer, we've watched it being built, but we can finally enter...THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER in Islands of Adventure! For a sneak peek, see below...
